Seven Months of Commitment: My Exercise Journey and Results

Since the last time I blogged about exercise and its benefits, below are the results of my exercise regimen after seven months.

My primary form of exercise is the treadmill.

  1. My daily exercise routine consists solely of using the treadmill every day of the week for an average of 40 minutes per day.
  2. My treadmill settings are:
    1. Elevation: 5
    1. Speed: 3, increased to 5 after 20 minutes

With these settings, I complete the equivalent of a 2-mile brisk walk and burn approximately 175 calories. By the end of the workout, I usually sweat a lot, which I consider a sign of a quality workout.

  • I do not eat breakfast.
  • For lunch, I eat Amala, my native food, which is rich in carbohydrates. Email me for the recipe.
  • I eat plenty of green vegetables and fruits, and I drink lots of water.
  • I drink a glass of tea-like concoction (email me for the recipe), followed by a bottle of room-temperature water 30 minutes later.

Results

  • I lost 17 pounds.
  • Although I occasionally experience muscle pain, the effort has been worth it.
  • I feel better than ever before.
  • My clothes fit much better.
  • I am more energetic and happier.

I call this phenomenon “the benefits of commitment and consistency.” Hallelujah!

Now that summer is fast approaching, I intend to walk outdoors two days a week, covering 3 miles per day, and discover additional benefits.

Future Goal

I plan to increase my treadmill time to 60 minutes, two days a week. With that, I hope to achieve a 3-mile walk and burn approximately 240 calories.

See y’all next time. Hurrah!!!
